Just finished washing the dishes, watching my hands turn to prunes, wondering if some things can be so easily cleaned up like dirty plates.

I still hurt when I remember vividly how you hurt.

“Although the wind …”
Izumi Shikibu

Although the wind
blows terribly here,
the moonlight also leaks
between the roof planks
of this ruined house.

Just came from a literary festival in school. For all the poems read and heard tonight, I can only think of one I would rather curl up in bed with:

“I picked an azalea…”
Izumi Shikibu

I picked an azalea
And brought it home.
Now when I contemplate it,
In its crimson dye
I see the color
Of my lover’s robe.
